Wolf lawsuit nears return to courtroom
The paperwork is piling up in U.S. District Judge Don Molloy’s office as Montana’s debate over wolves – and their removal from endangered species protection – nears its return to the courtroom.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service filed its brief on Thursday, arguing it has properly documented the science and supervised a successful reintroduction of the wolf in Montana and Idaho. Lawyers for a consortium of 14 conservation groups lodged their case on Dec. 31, arguing for the wolf’s return to federal protection.
