The USFS is requesting public input on a proposed planning rule change. From the USFS…
“The principles include an emphasis on restoration, conservation, and the improved resilience of ecosystems; watershed health; climate change response; species diversity and wildlife habitat; sustainable National Forest System lands; proactive collaboration; and, working across landscapes.”

In your comments to the USFS, please ask the FS to define terms such as “restoration”, “conservation” and “collaboration”. Ask the FS if they are incorporating the Multiple-Use Sustained Yield Act within their proposed changes.

I would like to make a personal comment on the proposed changes in the FS planning rules. Please define the terms conservation, collaboration and restoration as in my experience with the FS, there has been none of the above. The buzzword this year is transparency and I have seen none in any government agancy. These proposed changes need to be out in front of the general public, the very people that their decisions affect. My family and I are true conservationists, and support multiple use. I feel that the Forest Service shoud be what the name implies..Service. Instead of locking working folks out of the forests, the biggest buzzword should be management. Thank you
