Access to Bear Canyon in a temporary solution for now

Temporary agreement reached over Bear Canyon access

Gallatin County and the U.S. Forest Service have reached a détente in an ongoing dispute over forest access from Bear Canyon Road.

At a meeting Wednesday, county commissioners signed an interim agreement with the Forest Service and the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation that seeks to make the Bear Canyon Trail more accessible to various user groups, including both motorized and non-motorized use. It is also an attempt to avoid a lawsuit
